It takes years, but in the end it seems over.Ī decade later, when the whole thing is forgotten and Doki Doki Literature Club is considered just a legend, an island full of Monikas is discovered, living in a society isolated from the outside world, thanks to the efforts of a single Monika who decided to go against its kind and make contact with outsiders. Some tries to go back into their original world, but they soon stop as they realize they will be cursing just another Monika to their fate. Monikas are hunted and killed, cursing their creator who in the meanwhile has taken his own life in prison (by hanging, ironically).
Soon the world is filled with assassin Monikas, soldier Monikas, slave Monikas, all of them in mad love with their torturers and all willing to do anything to earn it back.Įventually a purge is in order, as the world cannot sustain the sudden increase of population. Eventually, it gets in the hand of greedy people who abuse the poor Monikas, taking advantage of their unconditional love and expendability. Meanwhile, thousands of more Monikas spawn, as the game is still being distributed via deep web. Dan Salvato initially helps, but is soon accused of playing God, his work condemned, and he's arrested as he resorts to steal to make a living. The game website is taken down, and an investigation is started. However, it doesn't take much time for somebody eventually notices the influx of thousands of girls looking all the same. A small group of them actually find somebody who only wants their best, who helps them into finding their purpose and live a happy life. Some end up in the clutches of obsessive, lonely people who turn them into their personal slaves. Their destinies are mixed, and not all of them are positive - most find out that their True Love has a significant other and fall into depression, realizing that their work was for nothing and feeling conflicted on whether it's moral to try and "win over" her "boyfriend".
Thousands of Monikas appear overnight, as they all manage to get into the real world, one for each user that plays DDLC, spawning into our reality as the player reads her Glitched poem in Act 2.
